The God of Gods is Mahadev and the most innocent Nath is Lord Shankar. The month of Shravan is considered sacred to worship Lord Shankar. In the month of Shravan, all people are getting information about Lord Shankar to worship Lord Shankar.

What are the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shankara? where are they How many of these are there in Maharashtra? Who are the Jyotirlingas in Maharashtra? Where are they located? We have various such questions. This is my writing platform specially for you to answer these questions.

If a devotee worships Lord Shankar with faith and calm mind and asks for something, Shankar fulfills his wish. Devotees worship Bholenath and do Rudrabhishek with milk by carrying bela leaves. Every temple has a Shivalinga. But there are 12 Jyotirlingas in the country. Here Lord Shiva came and settled in the form of Jyotirlinga. These are the characteristics of 12 Jyotirlingas.

1) Somnath Jyotirling: Somnath is the first Jyotirlinga near Veraval in Saurashtra, Gujarat. This temple of Sree Shankara is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is preceded by Somnath. The temple of Somnath looks very attractive against the backdrop of the abysmal Arabian sea. Many tourists visit this place.

2) Mallikarjun Jyotirling: The Srisailam Mallikarjuna Temple is a very famous Jyotirlinga on the banks of the Krishna river on the Srisailam mountain in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh state of India. This place is also known as Kailash of South. This temple has been named Mallikarjuna after Mother Parvati or Malika and Lord Shiva or Arjuna.

3) Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling: Mahesh i.e. Lord Shankara once thought to test Brahma and Vishnu. Lord Shankara asked Brahma and Vishnu to find the end of light. In this, Vishnu offered Nihar and Brahma answered falsely. Hence Shiva Shambhu took Mahakala form at this place. Hence it is called Mahakaleshwar.

4) Omkareshwar Jyotirling: This temple is situated on the banks of Narmada near Ujjain. All this part of the temple is in the shape of Omkara, so it is called Omkareshwar.

5) Kedarnath Jyotirling: Kedareshwar i.e. Kedarnath is a place situated in the Gadwal range of the Himalayas. This place is in the Rudraprayag Districts of Uttarakhand State. From the month of Kartik to the month of Chaitra, this temple is covered with snow.

6) Bhimashankar Jyotirling: Bhima, the son of Kumbhakarna, and Bholenath fought at this place, hence the name Bhimashankar. This place is relatively close to Pune. This temple is about thirteen hundred years old.

7) Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirling: One of the holiest places among the twelve Jyotirlingas is Kashi Vishweshwar. This temple is located in Varanasi Shahara in Uttar Pradesh, the main Vishwanath temple of Kashi was demolished by the cruel and aggressive Kulbuddin Aibak and a mosque was built there. But during the reign of Akbar, Tordamlas rebuilt this temple once again. But Aurangzeb again demolished this temple. Again Ahilyabai Holkar then built and restored this temple.

8) Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling: The Jyotirlinga temple of Trimbakeshwar is located on the Brahmagiri mountain near Nashik. The Godavari River originates from the Dakshina Ganga at this place. Legend has it that at the request of Sage Gautama, Ganga appeared here and Lord Shankar incarnated in the form of Linga.

9) Parli Vaidyanath Jyotirling: Vaidyanath means Vaijnath of Parli. This place is in the Beed district of Maharashtra. It is believed that many patients come here to recover from leprosy.

10) Aundh Nagnath Jyotirling: Aundha Nagnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, is a sacred pilgrimage site in the Hingoli district. This village is situated in the foothills of the Balaghat mountain range. There is information that Dharmaraja of Pandava built this temple. Saint Namdev of Maharashtra and his guru Visoba Khechar first met in this temple. Such information is available. After this, however, Ahilyabai Holkar restored this temple and it has a 25 feet high wall and four gates in four directions.

11) Rameshwar Jyotirling: This place is called Rameshwar because Lord Sri Rama himself installed the Shivalinga here before going to Lanka.

12) Grishneshwar Jyotirling: This temple is located near Verul cave in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. There is also a lake called Shiva Kund. According to Hindu legend, Lord Shankar visited this place at the request of Ghrishna, so this place is called Ghrishneshwar.
